ABOUT MARIANNA

I use movement as a means for creative self expression, therapeutic rehabilitation and building community.

Born and raised in the east village, I connected to movement and theatre at a young age, finding freedom and confidence in an otherwise inhibited body.  (Thank goodness for Loco-Motion Dance Theatre.)

I completed my 200 hr yoga teacher Training at ISHTA in 2018. Just before then, I was introduced to Body Intelligence class through my friend, mentor and mother of Body Intelligence, Brenna Palughi. The classes unlocked a feeling of freedom I hadn't been able to access since childhood loco-motion days.

At the end of 2022, I was hospitalized with Guillain Barre Syndrome, a rare neurological condition that causes temporary full-body paralysis. Throughout my intense year (+) long healing journey, in addition to a ton of PT, I used my Body Intelligence knowledge and guidance from my mentors to connect with sensation, mobility, strength and proprioception. It was truly wild to witness the body relearn, reform and regrow from essentially nothing.

This has informed my teaching immensely.

In the spring of 2024, I trained to teach Body Intelligence. I’ve done additional anatomy and facial resilience trainings with Tom Myers and completed a course in Pelvic floor health with Lauren Ohayon and Diana Zotos Florio.
