ABOUT CLASS

The Body Intelligence movement modality, created by Brenna Palughi, focuses on developing physical and emotional intelligence. Class utilizes concepts and exercises, originally explored in acting training, to build physical and mental stamina. Durational exercises condition the muscles and fascia while unveiling emotional availability, freeing the breath, eroding habitual tension and preventing injury.

Guided creative movement explorations allow you to fully experience your impulses and freedom in the body.

Classes are 90 minutes and open to every body.

WHAT STUDENTS SAY ABOUT CLASS:

“I have been doing Body Intelligence work with both Brenna and Marianna since 2017. This technique is unlike any other movement/embodiment work I have experienced -- it is extremely visceral and therefore hard to do it justice with words. The process relies on repetitive, circular movements to dehabitualize the body's physical habits -- this creates a release so deep that it transcends the physical body into the emotional and psychological body as well. It takes you to the edge of your body's boundaries (safely), and I am always left with an openness, a sense or renewal, and a feeling that my body has released old patterns. It is deeply transformational, and I highly recommend it.

Marianna is a generous, patient, incredibly knowledgeable guide who uses her own years of practice with this technique, as well as other physical/somatic work, to guide others in this potent process. Her continual exploration of her own body allows others to find a sense of curiosity and rediscovery in their body as well. I absolutely love working with her.”

- Sarah Baskin

“This was unlike any other movement or exercise class I've ever taken. It was invigorating physically, mentally and spiritually! After my first Body Intelligence class I felt more buoyant, my body felt more playful and what I can only describe as overall more youthful. It felt like deep dormant parts of my body were being woken up."

- Olga Mill

“I've loved working with Marianna and learning all about Body Intelligence. After just a few classes, I already feel a profound difference in my body. I'm in less pain and feel stronger and taller. Sometimes the classes can feel very intense but Marianna is incredibly supportive and helps me understand how to move through the sensation. She is aware of my injuries and offers me helpful adjustments. I highly recommend body intelligence to anyone looking for new ways to move, heal, and feel better than ever!”

- Caitlin O’Connell

“Body intelligence made me feel hydrated, free and trusting of my body's sensations."

-Jane Stiles

Body Intelligence is unlike any other class I have taken. Its combination of minute yet intense physical work and somatic connection is wildly unique and incredibly rewarding. I was able to actively link Body Intelligence to my work as a performer as well as to my coaching and education for actors -- particularly on camera. The care and attention that Marianna brings to her process and clients is undeniable. She created a safe space to freely explore and ask questions. She provided personal guidance throughout the class and I felt completely comfortable and taken care of throughout. And from a fitness perspective, the invitation of space and strength in parts of my body I didn't even know I had was absolutely delicious. For those on the search of expansion, awareness, and strength of their bodies: Body Intelligence is for you!"

- Shannon Marie Sullivan

“Body intelligence feels like a stretching out of my insides (the fascia experience is wild!) It feels like a deep cleansing of the body, as opposed to a surface level tidying. I love how much time we dedicate to each part of the body - it’s helping me gain new levels of awareness and experience sensations that I have yet to experience through other movement practices. I leave Marianna’s class awake, inspired, and about four inches taller.”

- Alex Becker

“This class is unlike anything I've experienced. A cathartic journey that traverses the smallest of hyper focused movements to an unexpected blast of freeform full bodied improvisation. A necessary wake up call for your body, mind and heart.”

- Marc Bovino
